Somehow, a part of me wishes I was writing “we’re moving to Texas” but alas we are only heading to Frisco, Dallas again. Yes we love DFW! If you’re looking for my entire recipe catalgog click here. Otherwise, read on for both my Brain and Immune Boosting Smoothie and why we’re going to Texas!
In my previous post last week, I promised you weekly blog posts again. If you missed it, I strongly encourage you to read about what this new season of Chef and Steward will look like.
My son Jaja and I will be heading to Texas this weekend for our third trip and his final surgery.
WHAT TO DO IN FRISCO, PLANO AND DFW TEXAS
What are some of the most amazing and fund things you like to do in DFW? Please share with us as we are looking for easily accessible fun ideas for families so that Jaja continues to have positive memories associated with his surgery experiences, which is really important for him psychologically.
As much as our son is healthy (as in not sick), he was born with a condition that requires multi-step surgical correction. This last surgery is urgent as time is of the essence. Should you wish to make a contribution to that, feel free to leave a comment indicating so and I will send you an email with a link for you to make a donation.
It has been a formidable challenge to get to this place and I am grateful for the miracles God has extended towards us to make this a reality.
When I tell you this whole thing is a move of God, trust and believe that He has made a way where there was no way.
Brain and Immune Boosting Granola Smoothie
This week also heralds the start of the new school year and as it turns out, all of the preparations I have been making to boost Jaja’s immunity ahead of the school year were also perfect to boost his immunity and also his general heath for a speedy recovery.
While he will miss several weeks of school, he will attend the first two days, so he will get the chance to meet his new teacher and class and not be the strange kid when he comes back when things are well on the way.
One of the things I have found to be very useful at the beginning of the school year is to make immune boosting smoothies with healthy ingredients. It helps his body to ease back into eating earlier in the day (since 5 weeks of summer have translated in later, bigger breakfasts). Plus he doesn’t like to eat early unless it’s some treat he wants like pancakes or bacon and eggs.
But easing back into the school year is also a re-adjustment for us parents who now have to get up earlier to ensure they get to school early. So making breakfast in a blender is a win-win for the entire household.
Yesterday I created a special Brain Boosting Granola Smoothie which also has ingredients to boost immunity and stabilize blood sugar so they are full until lunch time.
Please watch the recipe video short above and share to help other busy parents and families.

Brain and Immune Boosting Granola Smoothie
This Brain and Immune Boosting Granola Smoothie is perfect for back to school for both kids and busy parents!
Ingredients
- 1 cup organic whole milk (or any organic milf of preference)
- 1 cup organic granola with nuts (I used Members Selection brand sold at Costco and Pricesmart) substitute with others if not accessible
- 1/8 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1-2 teaspoons Bulletproof Braine Octaine MCT Oil
- 1/8 -1/4 teaspoon ginger powder (according to spice tolerance)
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- I did not add any sweetener because the granola was itself already sweet but should you feel the need to do so, you may add some organic honey or raisins/sultanas to boost sweetness.
Instructions
- Add ingredients in a good quality blender and blend until smooth
- Serve in a fun smoothie jar with a nice straw. This one also has a cover which would be great if you have to take it in the car with you.

Thanks. Your post is so informative. Healthy options are always a welcome.
