After trying to go through the catalogue of tens of thousands of photographs that were shot in the past 5 years, I came upon some interesting scenes that I held close to my heart. This is not the typical tourist board collection. We are talking about travel and cultural photography shot documentary style to depict life in its most authentic occurrence. The settings vary from Downtown Kingston street life, to life on my father’s farm in the hills of Trelawny, to my last dance camp at the Edna Manley College of the Visual Arts, to portraits of typical Jamaicans. This is a study of Jamaica that you can only get from the inside perspective of one who has lived there and loved it.
It showcases a simple, unencumbered life and the creativity and ingenuity that Jamaicans are known for.
The image above was taken at my friend Angela’s beautiful seaside property, which she rents for events in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
